Bielefelder

Our Creole Bielefelders joined our flock in 2025 through GreenFire Farms, bringing in large, dual-purpose birds with rich crele coloring, strong structure, and a famously calm, easygoing temperament. These gentle giants are happy to wander the yard at their own pace, calmly exploring and foraging without causing a fuss. They handle both cold and moderate heat well when given proper shelter and shade, making them reliable companions in a variety of climates.

Creole Bielefelders are steady layers of large brown eggs, typically producing 180–200 eggs per year, making them both beautiful and practical. Our line-breeding program—modeled after our Dutch Owlbeards—carefully pairs top roosters and hens across primary and secondary pens, rotating female offspring back to maintain and refine size, color, temperament, and productivity while keeping the flock healthy and consistent. These calm, friendly birds are perfect for keepers who want a low-stress, reliable, and attractive flock.

Our Creole Bielefelders have exceeded our expectations compared to other lines we’ve tried. While some inferior lines took 10 months to start laying, produced smaller-than-expected eggs, and laid poorly for the breed, our birds began laying as early as 5–12 months old, even during early winter. With just 8 hens, we consistently collect ~5 large brown eggs per day, demonstrating both their productivity and reliability. Combined with their calm, easygoing temperament and beautiful crele coloring, this line is as practical as it is attractive.
